Jason Belport Named Cayman Islands Local Honouree for the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame

What began as a young man’s love for the ocean has grown into a lifelong legacy. Jason Belport, General Manager of Clearly Cayman Dive Resorts, has been named the Cayman Islands Local Honouree for the 2025 International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame (ISDHF) — a recognition celebrating his nearly 30 years of dedication to Cayman’s diving and watersports community.

Belport first stepped onto a Reef Divers dive boat in 1996 as a Divemaster and driven by a passion for the sea and a desire to share Cayman’s stunning reefs with the world. Over the years, his hands-on leadership, mentorship of dive professionals, and advocacy for marine conservation helped elevate Cayman’s global reputation as a premier scuba destination.

“Jason has poured his heart into the industry,” said Michael Tibbetts, Owner, Clearly Cayman Dive Resorts. “His story is one of hard work, humility, and a deep love for the ocean — a true reflection of Cayman’s diving heritage.”

This September, Belport will be celebrated alongside other local honourees during a week of ISDHF events designed to honor his achievements and inspire the next generation. The culmination of events is the official ISDHF Induction Ceremony where Belport will join an esteemed roster of international inductees and local honourees.

“It’s humbling to be recognized for something I’ve simply loved doing my whole life,” said Belport. “From my first day loading tanks to helping lead two of the Cayman Islands top dive resorts, I’ve been surrounded by amazing people and breathtaking reefs. I’m honored to represent the Cayman Islands in this way.”

Founded in 2000, the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose passion and innovation have advanced the sport of diving worldwide. Each year, the Cayman Islands also honors a local figure whose life’s work has enriched the islands’ vibrant dive community.

Clearly Cayman proudly congratulates Jason Belport on being named the 2025 Cayman Islands Local Honouree by the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, recognizing his lifelong contributions to the Islands’ dive community.
