Subway Watersports, the on-site dive operation for Turquoise Bay Resort on the island of Roatan, has announced the operation’s 2018 PADI IDC Schedule. With unprecedented growth in 2017, Subway Watersports is expanding the offerings to include scheduled programs each month of 2018 that coincide with the local 2018 PADI Instructor Examinations (IE) throughout the year.
Led by veteran PADI Course Director and Dive Retail Specialist Phillip Hetherington, the Subway Watersports IDC program is an intensive 12-day offering that teaches everything a prospective dive professional would need to know to become a productive and effective PADI teaching professional anywhere in the world. Hetherington, who also operates Sugar Land Dive Center in Sugar Land, Texas, and Dive Boutique Cozumel, Cozumel, Mexico said the popularity of the Subway Watersports program continues to grow.
“There is strong demand for quality instruction and training for future scuba diving professionals,” he said. “The program here at Subway Watersports has seen double-digit growth each of the last 2 years and we anticipate even more interest in 2018. This is why we have scheduled such an ambitious slate of IDC programs.”
Graduates of the program are currently working in popular dive destinations including Grand Cayman, Hawaii, Bali and Thailand.
In addition to the PADI IDC programs offered at Subway Watersports, there is also the popular internship program for Divemaster, Assistant Instructor and Open Water Instructor Candidates. This growing program provides hands-on experience in the warm waters of Roatan’s North Side, along with the opportunity to participate in programs such as the Coral Restoration efforts, marine awareness, resort operations and more.
