Constantly on the cutting-edge of technology, PADI takes another leap into the future by partnering with I Love the Sea (ILtS) to introduce an innovative, immersive virtual reality diving experience to the mobile devices of people around the world. The new series of digital applications, The Must of the Sea, virtually brings users the experience of diving in some of the world’s most exotic seas. This sensorial experience can be maximized with use of virtual reality goggles.
The first app in the series to launch into the market is now available for download from themustofthesea.com, the Apple App Store, Google Play and Oculus store. The scuba industry will have the opportunity to try out the virtual reality experience for the first time at the PADI booth (#4024) at the DEMA Show in the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, 16-19 November 2016.
Initially featuring dive sites in the Red Sea, The Must of the Sea apps will be offered in three tiers. “Feel,” the first app to launch, features a sensorial experience for divers and non-divers alike, delivers three compelling, 360-degree undersea adventures: Shipwrecks, Caves and Gardens & Sea Life.
The second app in the suite, “View & Plan,” will launch in November 2016. This app is the ultimate virtual tour to seven of the best dive routes the Red Sea has to offer, creating an easy way for divers to plan their adventure. Users will be able to analyze the best dive sites of each route with useful information and advice, including geo-positioning, illustrations, dive route planning and panoramic 360-degree photos. Subsequently, the third app, “Pro Guide,” is scheduled to launch in the coming months.
Inspiring New Divers – and Creating Ocean Advocates

A New Tool for PADI Members

PADI Dive Centers and Resorts can use the new app to give consumers a taste of the awesome adventure that awaits them under the waves, which can be an effective tool for closing the sale. After all, this app is as close as you can get to diving without getting wet!”
