Once again, Stuart Cove’s was abuzz with celebrities as they provided production assistance to Discovery Channel’s Shark Week producers. Among the highlights, world renown culinary superstar, Guy Fieri, host of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and Guy’s Family Road Trip arrived in Nassau with one of his sons to join this year’s Shark Week cast.
With Stuart Cove’s co-owner Michelle Cove on camera and dive master Andrea Vitali acting as marine coordinator, Fieri and his son experienced their first shark dive and shark feeding for their Shark Week episode. An experienced shark wrangler herself, Michelle shared her intimate knowledge about the sharks they would be encountering on their dive, emphasizing the importance of these predators to the environment and how their decreasing populations due to overfishing affects the balance of marine ecosystems. Not surprisingly, Fieri’s episode focused in on what sharks eat in the wild. Following his own fascination with food, they tested various types of seafood to explore the marine cuisine that tantalized the sharks’ the most.
After the day of high- adrenalin diving, Fieri, Cove and the crew headed for one more culinary adventure, some local Bahamian food at the Arawak Cay “Fish Fry”. “It was delicious!,” said Cove.
Guy Fieri has become an icon in American culture with 63 restaurants, including a new one coming to Dubai. He has executive-produced a staggering six shows over the past year, starred in seven TV series and has become a crowd favorite wherever he goes.
Shark Week’s 30th anniversary airs from July 22 through July 29 on Discovery Channel.
