Board Member: Allen West
Board Member: Janeen Judah
The following members make up the rest of the board:
Sean Barr, Tyler Brandes, D’Artagnan Bebel, Robin Reynold and now immediate past president Barbara Thompson.
“These are exciting times with the Dive Pirates Foundation; we made a commitment to our 2020 goals to create a succession plan, get new people involved, broaden our horizons and challenge ourselves to continue to grow,” beamed Sophie Wimberley, who also co-founded the Dive Pirates. “Our focus continues to be supporting people with physical disabilities by sharing the fun and freedom of diving.
“We are excited about working with other agencies,” she continued. “This has increased our flexibility to find instructors and chapters closer to our recipients; we want them connecting and diving with their local diving community. We are grateful to SSI, RAID, HSA, SDI and PADI for working with us to make that happen.”
The Dive Pirates Foundation is making it happen for 20 new recipients this year, hosting two trips to the Cayman Brac Beach Resort and diving with Reef Divers II; slated for June 16-23, 2018 and the other September 22-29, 2018. For those interested in the June trip please call 877-393-3483 as space is limited.
“We want people to know that these trips are open to everyone, so come dive with us, see what we are about and see how we integrate adaptive divers with the mainstream diving community,” continued Wimberley. “We have a lot of fun, on and off the boats, have contests, and this year’s trips are being dubbed “the EPIC Adventure, because anyone can be a diver, but being a pirate is EPIC!”
