Popular series by Shadow Divers John Chatteron and Richie Kohler combines exceptional visuals, interesting topics and engaging personalities
Released on: 7/24/2007

The third edition of Dive Portal DVD, the highly-anticipated video magazine by John Chatterton and Richie Kohler is now available and shipping. The duo, well-known to the dive community around the world as “the Shadow Divers”, have created a presentation that takes viewers from the local waters of the Florida Keys, to the exotic underwater world of Yap with some exciting stops in between.

Highly entertaining, the Shadow Divers created Dive Portal DVD as a way to bring their many adventures and experiences to the general public. This third edition, which contains nearly two hours of original video material, follows two very popular DVDs that are still available from the Dive Portal Production company.

Dive Portal DVD #3 is unique because there are segments that take both John and Richie back “to their diving roots.” According to Richie, “They say you can never go back, but I had the opportunity to go back to where my diving career really started – Port Richey, Florida. Doing some extreme diving with Paul Heinerth, my scuba instructor from 30 years ago, proves you can indeed go back.”

There is a highly entertaining segment where Richie and Paul explore the “Eagle’s Nest” cave system. Said Richie, “Diving with a cave pioneer like Paul brings me back to the days when it was all new!”

Not to be outdone, John also took a trip into the past to visit Divers Academy commercial diving school in New Jersey, where he first got a taste for the underwater world more than 20 years ago.

“A lot has changed since I was a student at Divers Academy. Today training is different because the industry is different. The director of the school today was a student back when I was there. To be back at Divers Academy with Tammy Brown certainly makes you think about the ‘old days’ and the long road to where I am today.”

Dive Portal DVD #3 wasn’t intentionally designed to be an “origin edition” but according to John, “It seems to have turned out that way. People have been asking us how we got started, so I guess if they watch the DVD, they’ll find out.”
