Exciting new program helps stimulate new business for the dive industry.
Released on: 10/20/2009

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – 21 October 2009 – It’s time to implement fresh tactics that will attract a new generation of customers and Drop Zone: Dive-In -- an innovative approach to attracting Generations X and Y to diving -- delivers. Check it out along with other generational insights during the official Drop Zone: Dive-In debut at DEMA Show 2009 in Orlando, Florida, USA.

PADI, Body Glove, Sport Diver magazine and Transworld SURF partnered to create the award-winning film Drop Zone: Tahiti, which debuted during  DEMA Show 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Following the journeys of three young professional surfers as they search for what lies above and below the ocean’s surface, Drop Zone Tahiti continues to inspire surfers of all ages to explore what’s underneath the waves. Building on the foundation of the movie, Drop Zone: Dive In brings to life marketing and retail strategies dive center and resort owners can use to attract Generations X and Y. The mission of Drop Zone: Dive-In is simple: inspire new audiences to start diving and keep current customers coming back for more.

“Attracting the next generation of divers is critical to the overall health and future of the dive industry,” says Drew Richardson, President and Chief Operating Officer of PADI Worldwide. “As the industry introduces a younger audience to the adventure and extreme thrill of breathing underwater, it will help the next generation act on their readiness and willingness to dive in.”

The Drop Zone: Dive-In program helps demystify diving, so dive retailers can young-up their business and expand their market reach to include the passionate -- and profitable – Generation X and Y audience. Attendees will learn how adding new product categories and implementing simple marketing initiatives can bring in a whole new age group to their businesses. Social networking and environmental initiatives to help motivate Generation X and Y will also be covered.

“This new, innovative program will help retailers stay the course in a soft economy and help fill the pipeline with new customers,” added Richardson.
